Activities
The network’s action plan includes regular working meetings, methods-focused workshops, and conference panels.
Network meetings
Our regular on and offline meetings help network partners to focus on joint research questions, reflect on methodological expertise, share and discuss case studies, and contribute to organizing conference sections. These meetings, scheduled to take place twice a year, are limited to network members.Group picture from the first network meeting in June 2021. Missing members: Peter Gilles, Susan C. Herring, Alexandra O'Neil, Leah Schaede, Christin Frank
DiLCo Methods Days
DiLCo will host a 3-part methods-training programme for qualitative and quantitative research on digital language variation. These three workshops aim to:
- promote interaction and skills transfer across computational, interactional, and ethnographic approaches to digital language and text-based digital communication,
- offer top-quality methodological scaffolding to young researchers in the network, and
- raise awareness of ethical issues in digital language research.
The workshops feature invited lectures, open to a general public, and network-exclusive presentations and discussion of methods in on-going research.

DilCo organised a colloquium at SS24 (July 2022) in Ghent. The presentations were recorded and are available on Lecture2Go.
In 2023 some members of DiLCo have also participated in IPrA 18 in Brussels. Please click here for information about the lectures and dates.
